Role
As Product Owner you act as the interface between product strategy and execution within one of our client full-stack feature teams. You ensure that prioritized roadmap initiatives are converted into reliably delivered features — with high quality, predictable velocity, and measurable value for our users. In doing so, you maximize the impact of our engineering capacity and directly contribute to advancing our products in a faster, more focused way. At the same time, you contribute your own ideas and help shape which topics make it onto the roadmap through your keen eye for user needs and data.
Your Tasks & Responsibilities
• Backlog Ownership & Prioritization: End-to-end responsibility for your team’s product backlog — from requirements gathering and prioritization to final acceptance, working in close alignment with other Product Owners to ensure a consistent overall product.
• Roadmap Coordination: Active contribution to defining the product roadmap and proposing initiatives in alignment with the product team to synchronize dependencies and priorities across teams.
• Requirements Management & Specification: Gathering, analyzing, and translating complex technical requirements into actionable epics and user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
• Stakeholder Management: Representing the engineering teams to internal stakeholders and ensuring cross-departmental alignment on technical dependencies.
• Sprint & Release Planning: Driving sprint planning and jointly defining sprint goals with the development team, taking capacities, dependencies, and risks into account.
• Product Discovery & Validation: Identifying new opportunities and validating hypotheses through user feedback, data analysis, or prototyping.
• Facilitation of Agile Events: Responsible for the structured preparation, follow-up, and moderation of Scrum events (Daily Stand-up, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Retrospective) to ensure efficient processes and effective collaboration.
• KPI Monitoring & Continuous Improvement: Tracking relevant product and delivery metrics, as well as deriving optimization measures to foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
Your goals in this role
• Within 1 month
Assess the current product tracking and KPI setup, identify key gaps, and deliver a first trusted dashboard or diagnostic.
• Within 3 months
Deliver a first deep-dive funnel or product diagnostic, including drop-off points, opportunity sizing, and a benchmark for a proposed improvement.
• Within 6 months
Help establish a repeatable product measurement approach used by Product and leadership to make better decisions.
Your Key Competencies
Must have
• At least 4 years of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager in a cross-functional software team (backend, design, web, and/or app)
• Proven mastery of Scrum in practice: Ceremonies, backlog management, story writing, acceptance criteria
• Foundational technical understanding: Interplay between frontend, backend, and APIs; ability to assess dependencies and collaborate with engineers at eye level
• Data-driven mindset: Able to interpret KPIs, formulate hypotheses, and derive actionable decisions
• Proficiency with ticketing and documentation tools
• Fluent Business English
Nice to have:
• Experience with mobile apps (iOS/Android) and native release cycles
• Experience with payment, checkout, or KYC/verification flows
• Experience in B2C product development, ideally within e-commerce or the gambling industry
• Hands-on experience with product analytics and experimentation tools (GA4, CleverTap, Adjust, ABlyft, or similar)
• Familiarity with product discovery methods and close collaboration with UX Research
• Experience working with distributed, international teams
Your impact in this role
• Domain Mastery: You know our systems, business processes, and regulatory frameworks so deeply that you independently articulate requirements and resolve trade-offs yourself. Alignments with the Product Lead focus on prioritization and strategy rather than foundational basics.
• Reliable Delivery: Your team delivers predictably. Sprint goals are consistently met, the backlog is refined two sprints ahead, and risks are identified early rather than surfacing at the last minute.
• End-to-End Feature Ownership: You have owned at least 3 features from initial idea through prototyping and development to impact measurement — and can prove success or failure using KPIs such as conversion rate or verification rate. Documented failures backed by clear learnings count as successes here too.
• Driving the Roadmap: At least two initiatives that you originated and backed up with data or user insights have successfully made it into development.
Your soft skills
• Ownership & Accountability: You hold yourself responsible for the end result, not just the ticket — and you follow through on topics even when things get uncomfortable.
• Strong Communication as a Translator: You bridge the gap between business requirements and technical reality, making both accessible and clear to either side.
• Conflict Resolution Skills: You can say no, defend scope, and actively manage expectations without damaging relationships.
• Pragmatism: You make decisions even with incomplete information and prioritize delivering over perfecting.
• Curiosity & User Focus: You genuinely want to understand why users behave the way they do.
Your Background – Education & Experience
• Completed degree, e.g., in Business Informatics, Computer Science, Business Administration, Media/Communication Sciences, or an equivalent qualification gained through practical experience
• At least 4 years of experience as a Product Owner / Product Manager in an agile product team
• Strong understanding of agile working methodologies (ideally Scrum), paired with hands-on experience in maintaining and prioritizing the product backlog
• Experience with digital consumer products (B2C)
