Role
The Lead Engineer will head up our client MVP development and beyond.
Spending a large majority of your time hands-on developing the platform, but – as client’s most senior engineer – you will also have the opportunity to advise on technology selection, architecture, long-term technology strategy, hiring, mentoring & team leadership.
You will be an integral part of the senior team, and help shape the culture and working practices of the Product Development team alongside the Head of Product.
We are looking for someone exceptionally ambitious, extremely bright, hardworking and unwaveringly candid.
Requirements
7+ years of software development, including experience in organisations with high-quality engineering cultures (e.g. TDD, continuous deployment, etc)
A backend focus (ideally Python), but with some experience across the technology stack
Ideally some experience of mobile development and/or Progressive Web Applications
Strong understanding of different software development practices & infrastructure, and how each can help ship more value to customers, quicker
Experience managing & coaching fellow engineers
High standards, and the pragmatism to understand when to apply them
Startup/new product experience
Good understanding of core product development principles (customer-centricity, prototyping, etc)
Comfortable working in an environment of rapid growth, constant change, and lots of unknowns.
Resilient, with an understanding that building a startup requires flexibility and a deep sense of ownership.
Nice to have
Prior role within a B2B SaaS environment and/or HR Tech.
Previous entrepreneurial experience and / or scale-up.
Strong interest in developing software that motivates employees making them happier, more engaged and more productive.
